Jewelry Care Guide: Cleaning, Storage & Maintenance

Each setting style has trade-offs. Some maximize sparkle but need more maintenance. Others prioritize protection but show less of the stone. Understanding these differences helps you choose a setting that matches how you’ll actually wear your ring—not just how it looks in photos.

Caring for Fine Jewelry

While our jewelry was created to last a lifetime, there are some factors that can contribute to the everyday wear and tear of your fine jewelry. Proper care ensures that your precious pieces remain as radiant as the day you first wore them.

Storing Your Jewelry

Because of the value of fine jewelry, some people store pieces in a safe when not wearing them.

For loose gemstones: Keep them in soft pouches to prevent contact with hard surfaces that can scratch.

For silver jewelry: Store in a cool, dry place, preferably wrapped in soft felt or cloth to prevent tarnish.

For your collection: A jewelry box with compartments keeps pieces organized and separated. Stop by and ask about jewelry boxes that work for your collection.

Cleaning Your Jewelry

Ultrasonic cleaners: Be careful with ultrasonic cleaners. Only certain gemstones can handle the ultrasonic vibrations. If you’re not sure whether your stone is safe for ultrasonic cleaning, ask before using one.

Diamond jewelry: Diamond cleaners typically contain ammonia and water. Use a soft brush to remove dust or dirt from under the setting.

Silver jewelry: Clean with a silver polishing cloth, with or without silver cleaning solution.
